Workshop: Thinking collectivity from an intersectional perspective.

+++ Attention: The event had to be canceled due to the emergency measures against the spread of the new coronavirus +++

Workshop of the DFG group "Law Gender Collectivity":

Collectivity is on everyone's lips. What does empirical legal research gain from the question of collectivity? Which possibilities open up for interdisciplinary and intersectional approaches? And how can such intersectional and interdisciplinary approaches be made productive for the dilemmas of feminist legal research? The workshop explores these questions on a conceptual level and from specific perspectives of gender, racism and movement studies.

This discussion will be focusing on the relationship between subject(ization) and collectivity, the processuality of (normative) collectivities, and the question of whether collectivity needs an identity-creating feature. It is important to clarify how collectivity relates to categories of analysis such as group, community or society and which intersectional research perspectives open up from these relations; also with which reasons/justifications the term "collectivity" often appears to be so positively occupied in different disciplinary contexts.

Invited speakers: Cengiz Barskanmaz (Halle/Saale), Sarah Elsuni (Frankfurt a.M.), Imke Schminke (Munich).

Format of the event: Fishbowl Moderation by Veronika Springmann and Petra Sußner.
